I just printed off 50 class writer stories, and the printer didn’t jam or run out of paper. A good omen!
This can only mean one thing. Work for the 2016-17 Petit Jean Yearbook is really picking up. By now, we’ve assigned nearly 100 stories, shot nearly 75 different campus events, created page layouts, designed the cover of the book and shot all of the portraits for the “People” section.
The Petit Jean staff has been busy!
More than I’m excited about the prospect of an incredible book, the stunning photos and the beautifully balanced design, right now I’m just ecstatic about the incredible staff that I’m getting to work with every day.
At our staff meeting each week, we share our weekly high, lows and prayer requests. Bringing the staff together for this is humbling, and it builds an incredible family. We get to share laughs and sadness, and we get to pray together for our family, friends and weaknesses. When deadlines start to hit on Oct. 4, we’ll be spending lots of time together and this family will continue to grow. I can’t wait!
The staff is working incredibly hard to document Harding’s history for the 2016-17 school year, and I know they’re doing it with love, consideration and immeasurable laughter. I hope the Harding community knows the work and time going into this book is genuine and filled with pride and joy for our beloved Harding.
Sure yearbook distribution is still months away (April 2017, to be exact), but we’ve been busy. Step into the Student Publications office, and you’ll see a dedicated staff and feel a contagious, positive energy about the history of Harding for this school year.
We’ll keep you updated. After all, it is your yearbook we’re creating.
All the best,
Kaleb Turner
