When most people hear the words “copy editors,” they’re confused. The words don’t seem to go together, but a copy editor is one of the most important positions on a publication staff. A copy editor edits stories and layouts for AP Style, grammar, spelling and publication-specific style.
Copy editors are the ones that correct all of our mistakes, and we’re eternally grateful for them. They make the Petit Jean a beautifully read publication.
Let’s meet them.
Alex Wingrove, Head Copy Editor
Alex is a senior public relations major from Amarillo, Texas. She is obsessed with the sky, Criminal Minds and all kinds of dogs. Her dream job is to be Justin Timberlake’s publicist.
Rachel VanCuren, Assistant Copy Editor
Rachel is an English major who spends most of her time reading literature and writing papers. If she’s not reading or writing, she’s taking pictures, dreaming of future travel plans or listening to Beyoncé. Rachel plans on moving to New York City after she graduates. (Rachel is at the Harding University in Latin America program, and we miss her. We hope you’re having a blast, Rachel!)
