The Pit:
Where else on campus can you cozy up next to a fireplace and grab a taco before settling down to study? Besides after chapel and lunch, the Pit is relatively quiet enough to allow you to focus on whatever test you might have the next day. If you need some caffeine to keep you going, you can always swing by Java City right next to the Pit.
Slader’s Alaskan Dumpling Co.:
SADCo. is the perfect place if you feel the need to escape the Arkansas-ness. Christmas lights, bear pictures on the wall and Alaskan coffee and dumplings are all you need to get into study mode. Ask them to play your favorite record and get down to business.
McAlister’s Deli:
Sweet tea lovers should consider McAlister’s their go-to study. They have free Wi-Fi and a quiet environment for those really needing to focus. Since it’s relatively far off campus, you shouldn’t run into too many friends from school, which will help you stay on task and not get distracted.
Classroom:
If you’re looking to study with a large group of friends, reserve a classroom in a building on campus. The Reynolds, McInteer, Mabee and Steven’s Art building all have student workers who will unlock a classroom for you. Just give them your ID, and you and your friends will have a quiet study area where you can all work together.
Mr. Postman EXpresso:
Looking for a coffee shop environment but not wanting the busyness of Midnight Oil or Starbucks? Try Mr. Postman EXpresso. It’s located on Beebe Capps near Whistle Stop. Not only does it have the coffee shop essentials, but it also has a full mail service. So check out Mr. Postman: get some coffee, mail a letter and bring your homework.
Hasting’s:
Hasting’s is another great study location for coffee lovers. Head to their in-store coffee shop for a drink and get to work on that paper. If you need a study break, shop around for a new book or just people watch and observe the local culture. It provides the benefits of an off-campus environment, which will help you focus instead of chatting with friends.
CAB Office:
The CAB office is a great place to study if you’re looking to nestle into a big couch and listen to some great music. Not to mention they have coffee for 50 cents and tons of Christmas lights to provide some ambiance. You’ll get some homework done and get more involved with the CAB in the process.
Heritage Lobby:
Students with a more refined sense of taste should consider studying in the classiest place on campus: The Heritage lobby. Plenty of tables and comfy chairs are set up perfectly for studying quietly with small groups. You might even catch a glimpse of the famous President Bruce McLarty walking to his office. Get to work while listening to the tranquil sounds of the water fountain, or just pray someone good comes to play the piano.
