- Always carry and pen and paper with you to interviews and meetings for your internship or real job. It tells your boss that what they are saying is important enough for you to write down.
- Always practice an “about me” speech. They will ask, and you should be able to speak about yourself with confidence.
- Research the company and come into the interview with at least two questions about what you read. Formulate more questions by listening to the interviewer.
- You can ever be dressed too professionally for an interview.
- Never underestimate the power of a handwritten thank-you note. Consider writing them to anyone who recommended you, interviewed you, or who was contacted as a reference.
- Do not wear an overwhelming amount of perfume or cologne. Some people can be sensitive to that kind of thing.
- Girls, do not overwhelm them with your jewelry. I was taught to go by a three-piece maximum. I wear my ring, earrings and a watch.
- When you first get hired, I suggest getting to work before your boss and leaving after him/her. It shows your dedication and gives a good first impression.
