The recent Family Weekend at Harding University brought visitors from all over the country. The festivities kicked off on Friday night with comedian Matt Jernigan. Jernigan performed beginning at 8p.m. in front of a packed house in the Administration Auditorium. His only tools were a guitar and a microphone.
Jernigan broke the ice by describing a vivid account of how he was able to make it to the campus with the help of his GPS. People laughed and quickly engaged in a show that lasted a little bit over one hour.
With his unique style and talent, Jernigan was able to grab people’s attention by singing song parodies. He had a repertoire to connect with everybody in the audience. He sang parodies of popular songs from artist such as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Elvis Presley.
At one point during the show, Jernigan invited two people from the audience to join him in a song. A girl, a child and Jernigan were all three sharing the same microphone. Because Jernigan is so tall, when they were singing it was funny to see them interacting on the stage.
Jernigan is known for his 100 percent clean comedy. He has been a comedian for more than 15 years and has performed at the World Famous Comedy Store in Hollywood, The Improv Comedy Clubs and many different places around the country.
