For the first time in decades, First United Methodist Church is once again hosting a Lenten Lunch Concert Series. The series involves 20 minute concerts every Monday at noon through the season of Lent. The concerts cover a variety of music styles, from organ and piano to flute, guitar and voice.
Six local Searcy businesses were chosen three years ago to be featured in season four of the “Small Business Revolution,” sharing a $500,000 prize that went toward a makeover. Since then, three of those businesses have closed while the other three continue to seek ways to grow.
Searcy Fire Chief Brian Dunavan said the fire department responded to a 911 call regarding a fire at CJ’s Place apartment complex at 12:30 a.m. last Thursday, Feb. 10. The Daily Citizen reported that all residents safely exited CJ’s Place apartments, located on 1706 E. Moore Ave. However, all 25 families that lived in the apartments have been displaced.

Searcy is currently experiencing a dramatic increase in active COVID-19 cases, which is consistent with the rest of the state and country, largely due to the new omicron variant. Local health care providers, such as Unity Health, are struggling to keep up with and manage the increasing COVID-19 numbers.
