At the end of the first semester, Chi Omega Pi and TNT lead the club sports standings for women’s and men’s large club A team, respectively.
Chi Omega Pi is off to its best start in years on the back of championships in flag football and basketball, which has helped carry them to 24 points and a four-point lead over Ko Jo Kai and Zeta Rho who are both tied for second place with 20 points.
“We are so proud of our girls,” Chi Omega Pi athletic director sophomore Raianne Mason said. “Two club championships were so much more than we could’ve asked for. Our girls love sports and every time they play they give it all they have. They show such great sportsmanship at every game and they’ve shown me what it means to be a Christian athlete. I have been so blessed to be their athletic director and am incredibly excited to see how we do in the coming semester.”
On the men’s side, TNT has jumped out to the first semester lead after winning volleyball and their second consecutive basketball championship. The boost from the two titles, coupled with a runner-up finish in flag football has left them with 28 points to start the year. They are trailed closely by Sub-T 16, who won the flag football title for the second straight year, and currently sit within striking distance at 24 points after a runner-up finish in basketball.
“We played really well this semester,” junior TNT athletic director Mark Claiborne said. “We’re obviously very happy with winning two of the three sports so far, but we know next semester is going to be tough, so we have to keep playing our best and try to keep up the success in the spring.”
In small club A team, Iota Chi leads for the women’s side, with 27 points and the volleyball and basketball championships. Phi Kappa Delta sits in second place with 22 points, highlighted by second place finishes in both volleyball and basketball.
New men’s club Lambda Chi Theta leads in men’s small club A team with 28 points, which includes the flag football championship and a triple-overtime win against Sigma Nu Epsilon to claim the basketball title. Omega Phi claimed second place, as well as the volleyball championship, on their way to 25 points in the first semester.
