Searcy is home to a variety of fitness centers, but in order to pick the best one for you, here is some information regarding membership, pricing, benefits and student reviews about three local gyms.
Anytime Fitness is located at 417 South Main Street and is always open. Graduate student Morgan Carter said she worked out at Anytime Fitness often while completing her undergraduate degree.
“Anytime Fitness is a very small gym,” Carter said. “It is close to campus and open 24/7, which made it convenient. I couldn’t work out there long because the space was so small. They do have a tanning bed and most gyms in Searcy do not. Compared to Rhino Fitness, Anytime Fitness does not have many weight lifters. Most of the people at Anytime Fitness are there for cardio.”
According to Carter, Anytime Fitness offers classes and personal training, and membership begins as low as $34.95 a month.
Rhino Fitness is located at 1720 Queensway Street and is also always open. According to senior Michael Brollier, Rhino Fitness is not just a serious weight lifting gym.
“There are many women and men . . . that work out there,” Broiller said. “Rhino Fitness is in the process of expanding, it is a great environment, and I get a good workout in each time I go.”
Rhino Fitness offers a couples’ membership at $54 per month and family memberships at $69 per month. According to Brollier, a benefit to working out at Rhino Fitness is that members can bring guests for five-dollars whenever they want.
Senior Hannah Wolfe has taken Zumba classes at both Rhino Fitness and the Ganus Athletic Complex.
“The owner of Rhino Fitness has so much knowledge about nutrition and health,” Wolfe said. “The owners and trainers are eager to push you to your fullest potential and help you maximize your results. I liked the classes at the GAC, but they are more relaxed and less intense than the ones offered at Rhino Fitness.”
According to Carter, she has worked out at many gyms in Searcy, but Rhino fitness is her favorite.
“It’s big and I enjoy the atmosphere,” Carter said. “It is nice to get away from the crowded student gym.”
The Searcy Athletic Club is located at 954 Skyline Drive. According to Gavin De Los Santos, a previous employee of the Searcy Athletic Club (SAC), the fitness center is not open at all hours, but it still has convenient hours and offers child care. Membership begins at $50 per month.
“The Searcy Athletic Club is well managed and also very clean,” De Los Santos said. “I would consider the SAC to be more people oriented than other gyms in our community. A benefit of working out at the SAC, is that they have a pool and are open the same times as the school gym.
