I know you are asking yourself, “Why should I, the average Harding student, write anything forthe Link?” That is a great question, but to understand why you should, I think it would be best served to explain what the Link is.
The Link is a student-produced Web site that gives every Harding member the chance to speak his or her mind on many different topics. You have the ability to discuss what is important to you.
The Link is much likethe Bison, the campus newspaper. It is mostly for news-related content that is of interest to Harding members. However, any student can write on any topic they desire and have it published to the LInk. Anywhere there is internet access, you can write for the Link. All one has to do is log in with his or her Harding username and passwrod and begin submitting stories or opinion pieces.
Students can give their thoughts on how they think Harding sports teams are doing, issues or concerns that they have regarding Harding life or first-hand news that is going on around campus. The possibilities are endless for where students and faculty can take the site. You may do this in many different forms such as writing, video, recording and photos.
Just like any news Web site, there are editors and regulations for content.Dr. Jim Miller’sCOMM 323 class will act as editors of all content, and will they will go through the submissions to make sure that all content is appropriate and sound journalistically.
One of the best features is that once you have an article published, the link produces a biography page where you can tell everyone who you are, and it will have a link to all the articles you have written for the site.(Check Out Mine.)This feature is great for a resume booster. You can put the link to your biography in your Resume and future employers can see what you have published.
That is what The Link is all about and how you can become involved. Use your voice and be heard!
