Thirty students and faculty members went on their yearly mission trip to Honduras during spring break, spending nine days working with those who are less fortunate.
Many of the students in the group had been to Honduras before, so they returned to visit old friends. Several of the students visited a handicapped orphanage, and all of the students had the chance to interact with children who were excited to have someone to play with and bring them toys.
The group also built a church building and a house.
The Harding group threw two festivals for the people in Honduras, allowing them to come and learn more about Jesus and letting the kids do a VBS-type study.
Sophomore Emily Sansom said the most encouraging thing to one student who went was the handing out of the jewelry that was collected in the student center before spring break.
“To see the looks on the women’s and children’s faces when we passed out the jewelry was priceless,” Sansom said.”To think that our old unused jewelry we had laying around would make such an impact on someone else is truly amazing.”
Sansom said the women had big smiles on their faces every time they wore the jewelry. The jewelry drive was such a small way for the students to get involved and help, but it made a big impact, Sansom said.
