Harding University’s kinesiology department announced a new minor in outdoor recreation leadership will be available for enrollment in the fall of 2013.
The new minor in outdoor recreation leadership will have an 18-hour course requirement and will specifically focus on leading outdoor expeditions in a variety of outdoor settings and would ideally be paired with majors in youth & family ministry, behavioral science, kinesiology or sports and recreation management.
J.D. Yingling, an associate professor of kinesiology and director of the aquatics program, worked on the development of the new minor for a year and a half.
“I am excited about the opportunities this minor will provide Harding University students in outdoor activities and challenge course facilitation,” Yingling said. “I believe it has the potential to offer a lot more opportunities for outdoor recreation to all students who have interest in pursuing further outdoor course instruction.”
