An oil spill in Mayflower, Ark. took place when an Exxon pipeline ruptured and caused oil to spill near Lake Conway, according to Arkansas Matters.
According to Reuters, the Pegasus pipeline, which carries 90,000 barrels per day of crude oil from Patoka, Ill. to Nederland, Texas, was shut off after a leak was discovered Friday afternoon in a subdivision near Mayflower. The leak caused an evacuation of 22 homes. As of March 31, 12,000 barrels of oil and water had been recovered.
Reuters also stated that by 3 a.m. on March 30, there was no additional oil spilling from the pipeline and trucks were brought in to assist with the cleanup process.
