A male individual wearing no clothes entered the Charles White Dining Hall today around 11:30 a.m.
Senior eyewitness Jacob Broyles said he heard an Aramark employee scream, then turned and saw the individual making his way into the cafeteria. That is when Public Safety officials entered the cafeteria and stopped the individual.
Eyewitnesses said the student life deans, who were having lunch in the cafeteria at the time, attended to the individual. Public Safety confirmed the Searcy Police Department and Northstar EMS also responded to the scene.
Lt. Todd Wells of the Searcy Police Department said they received a call at 11:26 a.m. to assist Harding Public Safety in the incident, which was determined to be a “medical situation.” Wells said their presence on the scene was precautionary, and there was no threat to public safety.
At 12:46 p.m., Kevin Davis, assistant director of public safety, sent a campus alert via email stating that public safety had responded to a report of “erratic behavior” of an individual and that the individual had been stopped and transported to Unity Health Medical Center in Searcy for evaluation.
Wells said the Searcy Police Department marked their assignment to the situation as complete by 11:56 a.m. No charges were filed.
