Led by chairman Charles Ganus, the Harding Board of Trustees recently welcomed three new members: David Bell, Erin Brogdon and Brant Bryan. With the recent appointment, Harding’s governing body has grown to 22 members.
David Bell is the chief financial officer and treasurer for Castellum, Inc., and has garnered more than 30 years of financial experience. Bell received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Harding in 1992.
Bell said he appreciates his time at Harding as a student as he takes on his new role with the board.
“I value what my faith developed into while I was at school,” Bell said. “I can’t imagine a focus different than what the heart of the school is pushing for us to be — to have the impact for God.”
As he continues his journey with his alma mater, Bell said Harding’s mission impacted his decision to join the board.
“With Christ as Lord, Harding transforms learners for global impact by engaging minds and nurturing faith within a deeply connected community,” Bell said. “I think it is in line with God’s will. That is why I will continue to support it.”
Erin Brogdon is a member of the board of directors at Central Arkansas Christian Schools. Her work focuses on different organizations and their engagement strategies. Brogdon received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Harding in 2003.
Brogdon said she is ready to help students with their own “building blocks” at the University.
“School was such a pivotal part of my life with the way it shaped my identity and the person I am today,” Brogdon said. “Being able to help create a culture that helps students build values for the rest of their lives is an important investment of my time.”
Brogdon, who has worked with Central Arkansas Christians Schools since 2014, said Harding will continue to grow because of their mission.
“I think both organizations benefit from being Christ-centered and having a faith-first philosophy,” Brogdon said. “Because that is something that stands the test of time. Regardless of how culture shifts and what trends we see in society, we are building a foundation on things that are not going to change.”
Brant Bryan is one of the founding leaders for Fairways Equities and Cresa Global. With years of experience in finance and real estate, Bryan currently serves as a trustee and treasurer for Heritage 21, a ministry that aids and provides congregations with resources for decision-making.
Bryan received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Harding in 1977, as well as his master’s in business administration. Bryan said his passion for the University helped his decision to join the board.
“I love Harding — I think it is a great place in the world and in the kingdom,” Bryan said. “If I am useful to Harding’s board, I am all in.”
Bryan also said his experiences in finance and faith have helped him prepare for his life.
“I have found that the things I have learned in ministry have helped me be a great business leader,” Bryan said. “The things I have learned in business have helped me understand how to be a Christian as well.”
