For such a small town, Searcy has a lot to offer within the coffee department. Local coffee shops have become a bridge connecting our campus with the community around the holidays. The two come together in hopes of a palette pick-me-up.
Harding students often play a major role in the creation of these flavors, (if not done on their own.) Valentine’s Day is one holiday that is not being overlooked within the coffee community all on the same street. Here’s a sneak peak into what three coffee shops are doing this February. Senior Ellery Gardner works at 7Brew Coffee and explained the secret to receiving any favorite drink year-round.
“They have featured flavors, but you can order those anytime throughout the year,” Gardner said.
Although 7Brew may have only recently started advertising their Valentine’s drinks, you can order any holiday-themed drink any month. Such as Raspberry Truffle Breve, Love Potion RedBull and Cupid’s Special Chiller.
Representing Perk and Post, the second location to Mr. Postman, freshman Amanda Toye has grown into filling more roles at this location since working there for a little over a year.
Toye, who runs social media for Perk and Post, emphasized how this location is different from others in town.
“We have a lot of variety,” Toye said, “I think that’s what sets us apart.”
She said she is looking forward to the Valentine’s season drinks because of the unexpected latte combo of chocolate and anything fruit-flavored, such as the Strawberry Patch.
Sophomore Mikayla Jones has been working at Midnight Oil Coffeehouse for three years. Jones loves emphasizing the creativity Midnight Oil houses behind their espresso machines. This is especially true in the creation of their featured holiday menu for Valentine’s Day. Their holiday drinks include Stupid Cupid, Charry Styles, and Florist’s Favorite.
“I made all of our featured drinks for Valentine’s,” Jones said.
With syrups made in-house, each Midnight Oil barista is able to create a drink made with love celebrating the pink and red holiday. Jones explains how the team consists of people who grew up in Searcy and people from afar, which brings to the table a beautiful blend of old and new flavor ideas.
“We are all creative,” Jones said.
Make sure to invite a friend and race over to try out a new coffee, because our Searcy coffeeshops are not falling short this Valentine’s Day.
