Biscuit McGlawn
Miniature Golden-doodle
Owner: Penny McGlawn, residence life coordinator of Pattie Cobb Hall
How did you and your dog meet?
My friend has a service dog, and I was at first interested in training Biscuit to be a service dog. I stopped training him because he intuitively did the same things a therapy dog would do anyway. Biscuit also provides therapy to students by reading students’ emotions and reacting appropriately. Once I learned the power that dogs like that could have, I knew I needed a dog like that here.
What is your dog’s favorite thing about Harding?
Everybody stopping at the back fence [behind Pattie Cobb Hall] and petting him.
Does your dog have a favorite toy?
He does not have any favorite toys, but I guess my children would be his favorite toy.
What is your favorite thing to do with your dog?
My favorite thing to do with Biscuit is to watch him interact with students. Biscuit also loves to play fetch; he could play it all day long.
Can your dog do any fun tricks?
Biscuit knows a certain command called “Go home.” When Biscuit hears me say that, he will walk back into his room with his tail tucked.
Do you have any funny stories about your dog?
When Biscuit gets super excited about anyone that is here [in the dorm lobby,] he just pees. It’s a “happy tinkle.”
Does your dog have a favorite study spot on campus or place to relax?
Biscuit loves to sit in the chair at the front desk. He will sit there at attention as if he is doing desk duty. He’s a desk worker.
Does your dog have a favorite Harding holiday?
Biscuit’s favorite Harding holiday is move in weekend. He loves seeing all the residents, the residents’ siblings, their parents, their grandparents, everyone.
