Lectureship student speaker, senior Abbygale Garrison, is from Carrolton, Georgia, and is a Bible and missions major. During her time at Harding, Garrison interned in Kazakhstan through the Global Outreach Program and studied abroad through the Harding University in Zambia program.
“Lectureship is a great experience where we are given the opportunity to hear from people from many backgrounds,” Garrison said. “It is a time for our campus to come together and pay attention to spiritual ideas.”
Garrison said her lecture will encourage Christians to step out of their bubbles and live for Christ daily.” She will present this idea through telling stories about missionaries and Christians who Garrison has witnessed living a life for Christ beyond our cultural norms.
Garrison said that she feels humbled and privileged having been given this opportunity to speak at Lectureship, especially having been recommended to speak by someone anonymously.
“I was asked to be a speaker without knowing who nominated me and I accepted the invitation because I love the idea of having the chance to share what the Holy Spirit would like to say through me, to anyone who would like to listen,” Garrison said.
Garrison will present her lecture, “Christian Beyond Culture: Living a Life with Christ Beyond the Cultural Norms,” in McInteer room 150 on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 5 p.m.
