When a retired CIA black-ops agent’s life is threatened, he must regroup with old members of his team to survive the attempts on his life.Disclaimer: Spoiler warning.Bruce Willis stars in this comedic action movie as the main character, Frank Moses, a retired CIA operative who has been labeled as R.E.D. (Retired, Extremely Dangerous) by the same government agency he once worked for. Also making appearances in this movie are Morgan Freeman and Karl Urban.The movie’s storyline involves Moses’ escaping from different CIA attempts to kill him for his knowledge of a previous mission in which he had been involved. Moses regroups with the members of his former team, who are also on the CIA hit list in order to survive the attempts at their lives. After the first attempt on his life, Moses travels to Kansas City, where he finds Sarah Ross, the woman he had talked to with pension services. He takes her to New Orleans where he meets with Morgan Freeman’s character Joe Matheson. William Cooper, played by Urban, tracks him to New Orleans where he attempts to assassinate Moses.Throughout the rest of the movie, Moses and Cooper battle back and forth in search of answers to why a hit list of retired operatives was assembled in the first place. Moviegoers discover that the operatives on the hit list were all part of a mission in Guatemala to extract a soldier, who turns out to be the current vice president. This is discovered when Moses’ team realizes that a member of the team was not on the list.In an attempt to find more answers, the members of Moses’ team approach the unlisted member and discover that he is now in the arms-dealing business.After a period of interrogation of the former team member, the team leaves the house as an FBI team moves in to capture them, with new information that leads them to believe that the vice president is in charge of placing the orders to have the people involved in the Guatemala mission assassinated in order to cover up his extrication to help his run for president.Moses’ team then plots to assassinate the Vice President in order to save their own lives. Their plan leads them to a sponsor ball where they plot to kidnap the vice president and use him as leverage to clear their names and be removed from the hit list.After they complete the kidnapping, they make their demands with the CIA to clear their names, get Moses’ girlfriend back, and to be released from the hit list in exchange for the vice president. When all parties have arrived, the truth is revealed that the missing member from the Guatemala mission was using the vice president to call the hits, as a form of blackmail against him for his extrication.Overall this movie was excellent, but had several parts that seemed too drawn out. The comedy level provided by the characters will keep you laughing, as well as mixing in the action sequences that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good action movie that has a bit of humor to it.
