The Harding University Bison football team is looking to recover from a two-game losing streak when they take on Lambuth University at First Security Stadium on Saturday at 6 p.m.Head Coach Ronnie Huckeba said that the offense is learning its new high-risk offensive scheme still, which resulted in late turnovers that contributed to both recent losses. Senior quarterback Josh Powell agreed, saying that this week they continued to work on the fundamentals of the offense.”Our guys are really playing hard out there,” Huckeba said. “We’re really proud of them. We just have to eliminate mistakes.”Powell said that turnovers have really cost the Bisons in the last two games, but the team is working to prevent future problems.”We believe that we have beaten ourselves the last two games,” he said. “So we have focused on eliminating turnovers all week, we believe the best way to beat a good Lambuth team is to fix our turnover problem.”In the last game at Ouachita Baptist University, the Bisons turned over possession of the football four times in the game, while OBU did not turn the ball over the entire game.”Our guys have really bounced back from the last game,” Huckeba said. “Every week is a new week; we still have a tremendous opportunity ahead of us for this season.”In preparation for Lambuth, the Bisons spent the week working on ball security to prevent further turnovers.”All around the team is playing very well,” Huckeba said. “They are determined to recover and move on to the next game.”Powell completed nine of 14 passes for 254 yards in the loss against OBU, while senior linebacker Jason Thomasson completed 10 tackles in the game.”Bouncing back from a two-game losing streak is tough most of the time, but it’s different here. We all know we should be 3-0, they didn’t beat us we beat ourselves, and I believe that we have confidence in ourselves as coaches and players,” Powell said. “We are a great team.”Lambuth University defeated Georgia State, an NCAA Division One team, this season, which shows they currently have a strong team.Huckeba said the team worked on finishing plays and concentrating on the task at hand, not looking back on losses.”We’re really excited to be playing at home this week,” Huckeba said. “This is a special place to play, especially against a good team like Lambuth.”
