Harding University is projected to have a record enrollment for the 24thconsecutive year, according to a Harding press release.
The press release states that 6,700 students, including 4,100 undergraduates and 2,600 enrolled in graduate programs. Nearly 1,300 undergraduates will be new to Harding, either as freshmen or transfer. Students are projected to represent all 50 states and more than 50 foreign countries.
This year’s freshmen have chosen to attend Harding University for many reasons and said they are looking forward to life at Harding.
Shelby Speegle said she is looking forward to Harding because of the atmosphere and the change to make new friends.
“I chose to attend Harding University because I wanted to go to a school in a good Christian atmosphere with good Christian people,” Speegle said. “I’m looking forward to building relationships the most at Harding.”
Lauren Ammerman said she decided to come to Harding for reasons such as family members having come here and it being affiliated with her home church.
“I guess it was for the usual reasons, such as it was affiliated with my church and my grandmother came here,” Ammerman said. “What I am looking forward to the most about Harding is the study abroad programs.”
Jessica Davis said she chose to come to Harding because of the friendly people and is looking forward to getting involved in social clubs.
“I was excited about the Christian environment and all of the people I met here when I visited were so friendly and helpful,” Davis said. “I am really looking forward to clubs so that I can meet more people and get more involved.”
Wood Seagren said he chose to come to Harding because of being recruited for the cross-country team.
“I decided to come to Harding because I run cross country and Coach Guymon recruited me,” Seagren said. “Also, when I came to visit I really liked the business program and Coach is a great guy. The thing I’m looking forward to the most is joining a club.”
Ryan Stirrup said he decided to come to Harding because he wanted to have a good Christian education.
“My family went to Harding and have instilled a desire for Christian education in me,” Stirrup said. “I came to strengthen my faith while preparing myself for a career. I am most looking forward to finding a club to join.”
