Taylor Swift has just added another endorsement deal to a bevy of contracts including Sony Cameras, LEI, American Greeting, and now CoverGirl cosmetics.
Endorsement deals like this have become the norm in the advertising community. Why hire a model when you can get Taylor Swift to say that she’s easy, breezy and beautiful?
By hiring stars who are already recognized, companies like CoverGirl can accurately predict the target demographic. Among other reasons for choosing Swift as a spokesperson, I’m sure CoverGirl executives considered her young audience in the decision. Next to Miley Cyrus, Swift likely is the most popular entertainer for girls under the age of 18.
Swift joins fellow superstars Drew Barrymore, Queen Latifah, Rihanna and Ellen DeGeneres to endorse the cosmetic line.
If you think about it, Swift was the perfect choice for CoverGirl. Among its current celebrity spokeswomen, most are actresses and none are under the age of 21. Swift brings versatility with her music (which I’m sure will be featured in commercials) and a legion of loyal fans that will be eagerly waiting to buy Swift-endorsed cosmetics.
Look for the CoverGirl ads featuring Swift this coming January.
