The Bisons defeated Ouachita Baptist University, 72-71, in Arkadelphia, Ark., Saturday night and earned a spot in the Gulf South Conference tournament.
The Bisons advanced to the GSC championships when Arkansas Tech beat Christian Brothers Saturday night. Harding had been tied for fourth pace in the GSC West with Christian Brothers.

In Saturday’s game against OBU, the Bison’s won on a last-second shot that gave them the one-point win. On the bus trip back from OBU, news circulated among the players that Arkansas Tech had defeated Christian Brothers. That news sent a wave of excitement through the team.
Players called home and to family to inform them that they beat OBU and that they would be advancing to the championships with Christian Brothers’ loss.
“In the past 10 years we’ve been to the championships eight times,” said head coach Jeff Morgan. “We have accomplished a lot and worked hard after having a rough start this season. We deserved this”
The Lady Bisons also clinched a playoff spot. The women, who earned the third seed, will play Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss. Third-seeded Harding will take on North Alabama, the second seed from the GSC East Division. If the Lady Bisons win, they will play the winner of West Florida and Arkansas Tech on Saturday. That game time will either be 12:30 p.m. or 2:45 p.m.
