Coming off of a record-breaking season,Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallethas broken a bone in his foot during a conditioning drill and will miss three to four months. While Mallet will miss spring football, he is expected to fully recover by summer.
Mallet was hailed as the savior by many Razorback fans soon after transferring from Michigan in 2008. He watched the Hogs from the sidelines in 2008, taking a mandatory redshirt year after coming in from another Division I school. After hitting the field, Mallet did not disappoint.
Last fall saw Mallet toss 30 touchdown passes and throw for more than 3,600 yards. After mulling over early entry to the NFL Draft this fall, Mallet decided to return to the Razorbacks to pursue what looks to be a probable SEC championship.
Arkansas returns top junior receivers Joe Adams, Greg Childs and Jarius Wright, as well as the best pass-catching tight end in the conference in D.J. Williams. The Hogs look to have the best offense in the country in 2010.
Head coach Bobby Petrinoexpressed confidence in the U of A’s medical staff and trainers, and said Mallet is a competitor who will work extremely hard and is committed to the goals of the program.
