A counterfeit bill was found in the Harding University Business Office one Monday, Feb. 1. The Searcy Police Department was contacted to deal with the situation.
Monday afternoon after the closing, a counterfeit $20 bill was found in that day’s deposit by Connie May, the vault cashier in the business office. May took the bill to Molly Noble Douglass, the Director of the Business Office.
“It just didn’t feel right, so Connie brought me the bill and I agreed that it didn’t seem quite right,” Douglass said.
Douglass contacted the Searcy Police Department and an officer was sent to the Business Office. Douglass said the officer took the bill with him back to the department, and that was the last the business office had heard.
According to the Searcy police, the bill in question was sent to a counterfeit unit of the Secret Service in Little Rock, as is required with all alleged counterfeit money.
So far, this is the only forged bill found on campus, but there could be more. Students should be wary of any bills that seem a bit off.
