Throughout the entire weekend of homecoming Harding performs the play over five times, and holds a performance for all the local elementary schools to start the week on Thursday.
“The best part about the play was definitely the stage props and actual construction of the stage,” Jacob Garrison, a senior Harding student said.
As popular of a performance Harding puts on for the play audience, the play wasn’t the biggest success in Searcy this weekend. With all of the visitors whether it be alum or parents of students or just visitors to see the play, spent around one million dollars in a weekend and gave a huge boost to the Searcy economy.
A long with the regular homecoming festivities Harding hosted its largest group of potential students. Around 325 came to take part of the many different activities planned.
“It’s a big weekend for Harding, and a easy way for us to show the recruits just some of the really awesome things Harding has to offer,” Marcus Thomas, a Harding assistant director of admissions said.
“With the freshman class at Harding getting bigger and bigger each year I think us using this weekend as a prime opportunity to recruit is working,” Thomas said.
