Homecoming and Halloween at Harding… How’s that for alliteration and an action-packed weekend?
It’s Friday, and the action is about to begin around here. Plays will be performed, football games played, a queen will be crowned, costumes will be purchased and alumni will assist the weather of late in flooding the campus.
Homecoming comes and goes, as does Halloween every single year. Let’s take a look at how much things have changed from a year ago.
A year ago, Catherine Canterbury was crowned Homecoming Queen. This year, Mary Kyle Walker took the throne. Last Halloween, the most popular costumes were fairly close to a three-way-tie between fairies, witches and little Hannah Montana’s running the streets. This year, the favorite costume was Michael Jackson by a long shot. In 2008, the play we all went to see was “Oklahoma!”, this year, it was “Scrooge”. Last year we won our Homecoming football game against Southern Arkansas 39-33, this year we won as well, beating Henderson State.
Some things in life change, but at Harding University, you can always count on the prideful student body to appreciate the activities going on around campus. Click the following link to hear two Harding students talk about their weekend around Harding.
