HU Revelation, Harding University’s paintball team, starts off the year by moving onto a new practice field at Splat Action Paintball. This is one of the first steps in getting ready for this year’s tournament events.
The team has been working on getting itself into the big timecollege tournamentseen since 2006 but has had trouble getting the funds to do so. Last year was the team members’ first year to branch out and buy their own paint for practices. This paint is also used at the local field for recreational games, club function hosting and scrimmages against other local teams allowing them to raise funds to help get them to tournaments.
This also marks the first year the team has had an outside sponsor other than the field they have been practicing at.TechT paintballhas become an official sponsor of HU Revelation, allowing team members to sell their paintball gun parts and apparel. The team might travel to some scenario paintball event in the area to set up booths forTechT.
One problem holds the team from practicing for an undetermined amount of time. The shed that houses Splat Action Paintball’s compressors was struck by lightning over the summer. The lightning strike has made the power unpredictable to use the blower that inflates the paintball bunkers and won’t turn on the compressors used to fill the air tanks. Without air in their tanks, the team can do nothing but sit and wait.
While the team is waiting, the players are actively recruiting with flyers posted in the Harding student center and wearing their jerseys on certain days to raise awareness of the team. They plan on having bake sales, T-shirt sales and other fund raising opportunities for Harding students to get involved and help the team out.
