The Lady Bisons played two games last week ranking them the No. 2 seed for the Great American Conference (GAC).<\/p>\n
They came short 2-3 against Arkansas Tech University on Tuesday, Nov. 7, but ended their regular season with a 3-0 sweep against University of Arkansas at Monticello on Thursday, Nov. 9.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know the team really wants another shot at a championship,\u201d head Coach Meredith Fear said.\u00a0\u201cWe have to take it one match at a time and be playing our best volleyball.\u201d<\/p>\n
The girls have had a successful season so far with 13-3 conference games and 25-5 overall.<\/p>\n
Senior middle blocker Taylor Mounts took the lead with 17 kills against Arkansas Tech along with Junior middle blocker Zoe Harding who had 16 kills.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was very proud of the girls and how we performed Tuesday night,\u201d Fear said.\u00a0\u201cEveryone was so motivated and on the top of their game.\u00a0 It was a well-played, hard fought match.\u201d<\/p>\n
They came back stronger against Monticello on Thursday, going into the game with a positive mindset.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard sometimes to come off a five-set thriller and play well again in two days,\u201d\u00a0Coach Fear said prior to the match. \u201cWe have to keep our spirits and motivation level high.\u201d<\/p>\n
Freshman middle blocker Emily Smith helped defend the court with a total of four blocks and junior right side hitter Emma Reeves had one block and 10 kills.<\/p>\n
The GAC tournament started Thursday, Nov. 16 and will\u00a0continue through the weekend to Saturday, Nov. 18 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. There are a total of 12 competing teams.<\/p>\n
