{"id":9730,"date":"2017-11-08T23:39:09","date_gmt":"2017-11-09T05:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/?p=9730"},"modified":"2017-11-08T23:39:09","modified_gmt":"2017-11-09T05:39:09","slug":"university-hosts-first-ever-marketing-career-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/2017\/11\/08\/university-hosts-first-ever-marketing-career-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"University Hosts First Ever Marketing Career Fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The American Marketing Association (AMA) and Center for Professional Excellence (CPE) are teaming up on Nov. 9 to host the first ever IMC Expo: Marketing Mingle. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lori Sloan, marketing professor and AMA sponsor, along with Brian Harrington, director of CPE, have been planning the expo since early October. Their goal was to create an event for students, majoring in mass communication, marketing and graphic design, to come together and meet with businesses looking for summer interns and future employees. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sloan said that IMC is a term used in the creative world that means integrated marketing communication. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMost people in advertising, public relations, graphic design and marketing know that term, we\u2019re making sure everyone knows that term now,\u201d Sloan said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sloan said that there will be approximately 19 businesses ready to meet with students tomorrow, and among those businesses is Think Idea Studio, which is an advertising firm located in Searcy. Content specialist Phillip Slavin along with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">digital marketing strategist<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Haley Burkhead<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be representing the agency tomorrow. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re excited about the opportunity to share what we\u2019ve learned with the next generation of marketers,\u201d Slavin said. \u201cWe\u2019re also looking forward to meeting students that could become interns for us in the future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Harrington said that this is the first time a career expo specifically targeting marketing and other creative majors will be hosted by CPE and AMA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe do career fairs for accounting students in the fall and all business students in the spring, so there\u2019s nothing for just marketing students,\u201d Harrington said. \u201cOur focus here in the CPE is to work with business students, but there\u2019s communication, PR, advertising and graphic design that are all applying to the same jobs, so we wanted to create some type of career fair for them.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The IMC Expo: Marketing Mingle, will be held from 1-3 p.m. today, Nov. 9, in the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
