The men\u2019s golf team finished in fifth place out of 12 participating teams on Oct. 2 and 3 last week at the Henderson State Fall Invitational. This year\u2019s season has been looking up for the men and they are continuing to work on more improvements.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a lot of fun this year,\u201d coach Dustin Howell said. \u201cWe\u2019ve had a wonderful start for both men and women. The men\u2019s success has been led largely by senior Mason Banger.\u201d<\/p>\n
Banger has a stroke average of 74.53, which is the first in Harding\u2019s golf program history. He\u2019s also received the 2017 all-GAC award and tied for 11th place in their last tournament.<\/p>\n
Junior Edward Auxlund scored his second hole-in-one within three weeks and tied for 17th place in individuals. Looking forward to regionals, Auxlund says the team will need to keep improving to be sure they will make the top 10.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re doing good as of right now,\u201d Auxlund said. \u201cBut we will need to keep playing better and working on individual improvements to be sure that we can get where we want to be.\u201d<\/p>\n
Senior Alan Anderson said this season is nothing like what he anticipated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis season has been up and down,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cI\u2019m continuing to work harder and harder each day, and put the bad behind me so I can reach new goals.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, Anderson says that the team has improved since last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve played good altogether. Right now, were ranked eighth in the region which is better than last year \u2013 we were ranked 12th,\u201d said Anderson. \u201cIf we can maintain our position and continue to do well we will have a shot at regionals.\u201d<\/p>\n
