\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Zaxbys in Searcy discontinued their College Night tradition. Until this Fall, on Monday nights Harding students used to find four meal options for around $4 at Zaxbys. <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Junior Haley Hood took advantage of College Night, forming a mealtime tradition with friends.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>“We would get a big group together and go every week to eat at Zaxby’s before club meetings, night classes or whatever else people had going on. I would always get the chicken fingers and fries. I was so sad when they took College Night away,” Hood said. “The price difference of the food is not a huge deal, but it was the concept of a specific night set aside for college students and being with friends that was taken away.”<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Faculty and staff could also show their Harding I.D.s and get the discount. Dean of Student Life Zachary Neal choses Zaxby’s as an option when taking students out for a meal. <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>“I know just through casual conversation with students, a whole lot would go on a Monday night, but from their management’s perspective, maybe they weren’t bringing in the amount of money that they wanted,” Neal said. “I think restaurants that offer a consistent percentage off no matter the night likely have better results, as opposed to just one night that’s isolated for college night, just because the schedules of students are so different.”<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Zaxby’s is now offering five select meals for $5.99. While the price has increased from College Night, this new deal is now offered all week to anyone, not exclusively college students. <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>“It’s still a good deal, but now that it’s less exclusive and more common, I think it’ll appeal less to the Harding community,” Hood said. “I’ll still probably go there because they have good food, but I won’t go as consistently as last year.”<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>There are other restaurants in Searcy that offer a discount or special deal. Slader’s Alaskan Dumplings Co. usually costs $9, but for students, it costs $8. Tropical Smoothie offers 10 percent off on Monday nights and most fast food restaurants in Searcy will give 5 or 10 percent off when students show their I.D.s. Many pizza chains have student specials. Highway 55 also offers 10 percent off when a student shows their I.D. to their server. Madeline Martin, a waitress at Highway 55, said that student discounts don’t get advertised enough.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>“I didn’t even know about (the discount) until someone asked me about it, and I had to ask a manager.
