The Student Association (SA) is hosting an art competition through March 3, to decorate the Ezell Center and help students remember where their classrooms are, according to SA vice president senior Daniel Evans.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very confusing in the hallways to walk around and know which one is the right one,\u201d Evans said. \u201cSo we just needed to do something to make the hallways different.\u201d<\/p>\n
When faced with the challenge of getting art pieces, the SA came up with the idea of holding a competition that would allow all students on campus to get involved and submit their own work. According to senior class representative Kirk McDaniel, the pieces submitted must be no larger than 2 square feet and no smaller than 1 square foot, and it must be able to hang on the walls.<\/p>\n
Students can submit drawings, paintings and even photographs, all of which must be Harding appropriate.<\/p>\n
Of the students who submit pieces, the top three winners will receive gift cards to Kibo Midnight Oil. First place will win a $50 gift card, second place a $30 gift card and third place a $20 gift card.<\/p>\n
Members of the SA hope this will be incentive enough to get students involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want as many people to submit art for it as possible,\u201d McDaniel said. \u201cThe hope is to get several pieces of art to hang across the halls.\u201d<\/p>\n
Students can submit their art or photographs to SA president Noah Watson. The winners will then be selected by the Ezell\u2019s building manager, Terry Smith. Watson hopes that students will submit Harding-related pieces to be displayed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope that there will be a good number of students that turn in things,\u201d Watson said. \u201cPeople can express the things they love about Harding and be appreciated for that.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Watson, the SA will be announcing the winners whose art will be recognized in chapel after spring break. The chosen pieces are scheduled to be displayed in the halls of the Ezell by the end of the semester.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
