Many jobs are available on campus that challenges students to grow and become successful at reaching greater potential. Among these jobs is filling the position of a camp counselor at Uplift, a summer camp for grades 7-12 with three different sessions. Counselors serve the positions as leaders, mentors and facilitators for spiritual growth. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Senior Meghan Ramsey held an Uplift office staff position this past summer and said being in that position providing a lot of great opportunities.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

“Being a counselor is a great way to minister to kids during the summer and grow closer to other people from Harding,” Ramsey said. <\/o:p><\/p>\n

Junior Marissa Goolsby said she decided to become an Uplift counselor because of her past experience of going to Uplift for several years and how much it spiritually impacted her.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

“Being a counselor was worth it because I got to meet different youth group kids from all over the country and invest in a big way in their lives, even if it was a small window of time,” Goolsby said. “I would recommend others to look into becoming Uplift counselors because it is a fun way to serve and a great summer job.”<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Sophomore Nathan Carmichael also served Uplift as a camp counselor this past summer for the first time and said that after being a camper, Uplift has a major impact on his decision to come to Harding.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

“I wanted to be there for the kids coming to hopefully have that same influence,” Carmichael said. “I have worked for camps in the past but the relationships between the counselors are like nothing I’ve ever seen.”<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Uplift applications are available for anyone and can be picked up at the Mitchell Center in McInteer 168 for new and returning counselors. Interviews will begin early next semester.<\/p>\n
