{"id":4640,"date":"2014-03-06T22:47:42","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T15:21:58","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T06:00:00","slug":"emily-owens-author-of-kaitlyn-rabbit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/2014\/03\/06\/emily-owens-author-of-kaitlyn-rabbit\/","title":{"rendered":"Emily Owens, Author of &#8220;Kaitlyn Rabbit&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emily Owens, a senior early childhood education major from Columbia, Tenn., is currently enjoying the success of her first children&#8217;s book, &#8220;Kaitlyn Rabbit.&#8221; The book was published on Amazon in early December.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I started writing a long time ago, probably 10 years ago,&#8221; Owens said. &#8220;I&#8217;ve written over a hundred little poems and stories over the years but only six or seven complete books.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Owens said that &#8220;Kaitlyn Rabbit&#8221; was written as a gift for a friend named Kaitlyn.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re both in Pied Pipers, and we were Piper Pals,&#8221; Owens said. &#8220;So I started the book at the beginning of last semester and gave it to her in December.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Kaitlyn Rabbit&#8221; is the story of a friendly rabbit and her woodland friends who learn the joy of giving without expecting anything in return.<\/p>\n<p>The book was illustrated by Owens&#8217; sister, Marcy Yoder, a 2012 Harding graduate who is currently pursuing a career as a freelance artist and illustrator.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Emily and I have a lot of creative chemistry,&#8221; Yoder said. &#8220;When she writes a story, I can picture things.
