{"id":3574,"date":"2010-03-23T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T15:21:55","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T06:00:00","slug":"students-take-spring-break-mission-to-honduras","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/2010\/03\/23\/students-take-spring-break-mission-to-honduras\/","title":{"rendered":"Students take spring break mission to Honduras"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Written by Kaylee Beth Swayne<\/p>\n<p>Thirty students and faculty members went on their yearly mission trip to Honduras during spring break, spending nine days working with those who are less fortunate.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Many of the students in the group had been to Honduras before, so they returned to visit old friends. Several of the students visited a handicapped orphanage, and all of the students had the chance to interact with children who were excited to have someone to play with and bring them toys.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The group also built a church building and a house.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Harding group threw two festivals for the people in Honduras, allowing them to come and learn more about Jesus and letting the kids do a VBS-type study.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Emily Sansom said the most encouraging thing to one student who went was the handing out of the jewelry that was collected in the student center before spring break.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To see the looks on the women&#8217;s and children&#8217;s faces when we passed out the jewelry was priceless,&#8221; Sansom said.&#8221;To think that our old unused jewelry we had laying around would make such an impact on someone else is truly amazing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Sansom said the women had big smiles on their faces every time they wore the jewelry.
