{"id":2362,"date":"2012-11-29T22:51:28","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T15:21:52","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T06:00:00","slug":"remembering-connor-mobley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/2012\/11\/29\/remembering-connor-mobley\/","title":{"rendered":"Remembering Connor Mobley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Harding University lost a caring and much-loved student when sophomore Connor Mobley, 19, died on Nov. 14.<\/p>\n<p>Mobley transferred to Harding this semester and suffered from Glioblastoma, a type of highly cancerous brain tumor, which led to his death.<\/p>\n<p>Mobley&#8217;s girlfriend, junior Colby Butler, said that Mobley&#8217;s life motto was &#8220;Take it easy,&#8221; which came from his favorite movie, &#8220;Nacho Libre.&#8221; It was also the theme at his memorial service.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The thing that stood out to me the most about Connor was that he lived every day like it was his last,&#8221; Butler said. &#8220;But he never complained about anything and never talked about it much. He just fought and never complained.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mobley was a youth and family ministry major from Southhaven, Miss., and attended Goodman Oaks Church of Christ. One of his friends growing up and at Harding was sophomore Jeremy Howard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was really funny and he cared about people, and he was just awesome and always made me laugh,&#8221; Howard said.<\/p>\n<p>Butler said that the last song Mobley played on his iPod was &#8220;I Will Rise.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was hard to listen to that over and over and over while he was dying, but it was also really cool,&#8221; Butler said.<\/p>\n<p>The Student Association held a memorial service for Mobley on Nov. 15 to offer prayer, write notes to the family and share memories.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Harding University lost a caring and much-loved student when sophomore Connor Mobley, 19, died on Nov. 14.
