{"id":2049,"date":"2012-01-20T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T15:21:52","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T06:00:00","slug":"2012-inductees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/2012\/01\/20\/2012-inductees\/","title":{"rendered":"2012  INDUCTEES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Harding enjoys a rich sports history.As evidenced by the new Jim Citty Athletic Complex and the revival of Harding&#8217;s softball program, maintaining the university&#8217;s support for the athletic programs and its athletes will continue in importance.<\/p>\n<p>One aspect of Harding&#8217;s sports history is the Harding University Bison Boosters Hall of Fame, which honors former Bison athletes.There are currently 70 members.The Bison Boosters Hall of Fame committee announced that 14 new members will receive this prestigious honor of induction into the Hall of Fame in a ceremony to be held on Friday, Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Heritage Center Founders&#8217; Room.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Vince Adams \u2013 Baseball \u2013 Played 99 games as a Bison and earned All-AIC Honors in 1974, 1975 and 1976.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Bill Barden \u2013 Distinguished Alumni in Coaching \u2013 Compiled 212 career wins in 25 years as head football coach at Harding Academy including three state championships.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Corey Camper \u2013 Basketball \u2013 Played 117 games as a Bison;Honorable Mention All-America and All-AIC in 1989 and 1990.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Janet Kogo Cherobon-Bawcom \u2013 Cross-Country\/Track \u2013 four-time All-Gulf South Conference and All-Region in cross-country (2000\u20132003); NCAA All-America in 2002 and 2003; holds many school records; 5,000 meter and 10,000 meter National Champion in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Rolando Garcia \u2013 Basketball \u2013 Played 117 games as a Bison; scored 761 points in 1990-91, the most ever in a single season; All-AIC in 1991.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Pat Gill \u2013 Football \u2013 1989, 1990 and 1991 \u2013 NAIA All-America; Harding&#8217; career leader in tackles (476).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Regina Huddleston-Renfroe \u2013 Volleyball \u2013 Lettered 1992\u20131995; All-AIC 1993,1994, 1995 \u2013 Harding was 72-28 in her final two seasons.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Kymm Hudson-Alexander \u2013 Basketball \u2013 Played 122 games as a Lady Bison; 1993-1994 \u2013 school record 228 free throws; Honorable Mention All-America (1993\u20131994).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Tony McCoy \u2013 Football and Track \u2013 Won the 200 meters \u2013 1982 AIC Track Championship; 1982 \u2013 Received the Bruce Gaither Memorial Inspiration Award; 1981 \u2013 rushed for 1,021 yards \u2013 second in the AIC that season.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Shauna Queen-Perez \u2013 Cross-Country\/Track (1991\u20131993) \u2013 All-America \u2013 1,000 yard run; 1993 \u2013 AIC Championship in 1,500 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters and 3,000 meters; three-time All-AIC in cross-country; 1992 \u2013 NAIA Scholar Athlete in cross-country.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Arturo Rodriguez \u2013 Tennis (1995-1997) \u2013 NAIA second team All-America; 72 career singles wins; tied for fourth at Harding with 64 career doubles victories.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Jacob Rotich \u2013 Cross-Country\/Track (2001\u20132003) \u2013 All-Gulf South Conference in cross-country; 2002 and 2003 \u2013 GSC individual cross-country champion; 2001 \u2013 2003 \u2013 All Region; 2001 \u2013 2003 \u2013 NCAA Cross-Country All-American; 2004 \u2013 Berryhill Award<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Joe David Smith \u2013 Football (1975-1976) \u2013 First Team All-AIC; One of only two<\/p>\n<p>Harding players with 1,000 career rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards. Led the AIC in rushing yards (999), receptions (44) and Touchdowns (13) in 1976.Played 42 games for the Bisons.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>President David B. Burks \u2013 Distinguished Service \u2013 Inaugurated as Harding&#8217;s fourth president in 1987.Initiated renovations of athletic facilities as well as new athletic training center.Facilitated Harding&#8217;s move from NAIA to NCAA D II.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Hall of Fame induction dinner and ceremony are open to the public.
