{"id":18163,"date":"2022-09-30T11:50:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-30T17:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/?p=18163"},"modified":"2023-03-25T11:53:50","modified_gmt":"2023-03-25T17:53:50","slug":"student-resources-offered-on-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/2022\/09\/30\/student-resources-offered-on-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"Student resources offered on campus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Written by Ben Lane \/\/ Photo by Madison Meyer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike Campus Life, clubs, campus organizations, recreational activities and other activities that offer a social outlet, several free resources exist to help students achieve academic, professional and personal success during their enrollment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples include the Writing Center, Center for Professional Excellence (CPE), Media Center, Watson Center and STEM Center. The Writing Center, hosted by the English Department, allows students to attempt to improve their papers with the help of a student tutor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m here to help with anything writing related, from brainstorming on a paper topic to figuring out proper citation style,\u201d junior Rachael Bull, who is in her third semester working for the center, said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bull said there is a misconception that the center is only for bad writers, but it is intended for anyone regardless of their writing skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe truth is that everyone needs help with writing sometimes,\u201d Bull said. \u201cEven good writers get stuck or have questions, or maybe just need a fresh perspective on their writing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The writing center is located in the Brackett Library and is available by appointment seven days a week with walk-ins accepted as staff allows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other centers, like the Media and the Watson Centers, provide resources students may use for their projects.
