{"id":17622,"date":"2023-02-09T10:29:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-09T16:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/?p=17622"},"modified":"2023-02-09T11:15:53","modified_gmt":"2023-02-09T17:15:53","slug":"sladers-alaskan-dumpling-co-hosts-birthday-party-for-harry-styles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/2023\/02\/09\/sladers-alaskan-dumpling-co-hosts-birthday-party-for-harry-styles\/","title":{"rendered":"Slader\u2019s Alaskan Dumpling Co. hosts birthday party for Harry Styles"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Written by Tiane Davis <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slader\u2019s Alaskan Dumpling Co. hosted a birthday party for Harry Styles at their main location Feb. 1.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophomore Jiana Manglicmot, who recently became an events coordinator at Slader\u2019s with junior Malachi Brown, said the party was the second event she and Brown had planned together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis, so far, has been my favorite Slader\u2019s event, just because it\u2019s so fun and super lowkey,\u201d Manglicmot said. \u201cI am excited for events to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophomore Molli Ellis, who works weekend shifts and helps run social media at Slader\u2019s, said the event was a great way to bring people to Slader\u2019s who might not have ever been inside before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s really cool,\u201d Ellis said. \u201cWe haven\u2019t really had any events that are planned like this, so it\u2019s really fun, especially since it gets a lot of people in the shop and talking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Junior Dawson Teague, who attended the party, said he went because he is a huge fan of Harry Styles and because Slader\u2019s offered a free slice of cake with the purchase of dumplings as part of the birthday party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been to tons of his shows, and I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and honor him and the legacy that he has set and continues to set through all of his inspiring music and actions,\u201d Teague said. \u201cIt was super fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teague said the atmosphere at Slader\u2019s is not like a typical sit-down restaurant where one would sit down, eat and leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s kind of the same vibes as Midnight Oil \u2014 a fun, lowkey place where people go to do homework and play games,\u201d Teague said. \u201cIt feels more like a homey kind of environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like Teague, Manglicmot said Slader\u2019s has always been a good place for students to spend time at, and she has wanted it to be a more regular hangout place for Harding students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s really exciting because for the longest time I\u2019ve known the potential of this place,\u201d Manglicmot said. \u201cI\u2019ve known that it\u2019s just a really good vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manglicmot said the work environment is welcoming for all the employees, as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMe and Malachi, and I\u2019m sure a lot of other employees, even when we\u2019re not working here, we come and hang out and bring our friends,\u201d Manglicmot said. \u201cThat\u2019s not something you get out of a lot of other workplaces. We\u2019re just really excited to be making this place known.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manglicmot said another thing she enjoys having at Slader\u2019s is pop-up shops for small businesses.
