Snow and ice covered Harding\u2019s campus last week, allowing students and faculty to take a break from chapel and all in-person classes that Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Temperatures dropped well below freezing Monday night, Jan. 30, with snow and rain coming down for most of the afternoon and well into the night. The campus was closed for that night, with the cafeteria and the rest of the dining locations shutting down early, as well as the Ganus Activities Complex (GAC) closing a few hours earlier that night. All spring sing rehearsals scheduled for Monday night were also canceled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the next two consecutive days off from school, students enjoyed rest and participated in various activities around campus. Many students congregated at Midnight Oil, Warehouse 4 or Starbucks to catch up on homework and studying. Others occupied their time simply staying in their dorms, working out in the GAC or enjoying the beauty of the snow-covered campus grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI slept in until 12 and then just chilled in the dorm and cooked whatever we had and watched some movies,\u201d junior McKinley TeBeest said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Junior Josie Thomas said she had a similarly relaxed routine during the snow days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI went for a walk, caught up on some homework, cooked, slept in late and [went]] to the GAC for a workout session,\u201d Thomas said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many students chose not to drive due to the icy conditions. Freshman Mackenzie Blaine said she witnessed a brave driver struggle with the icy roads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
