{"id":15766,"date":"2021-02-11T20:37:50","date_gmt":"2021-02-12T02:37:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/?p=15766"},"modified":"2021-02-19T07:59:44","modified_gmt":"2021-02-19T13:59:44","slug":"a-storytelling-event-struggle-bus-streams-on-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/2021\/02\/11\/a-storytelling-event-struggle-bus-streams-on-demand\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018A Storytelling Event: Struggle Bus\u2019 streams on demand"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Harding University theatre performed \u201cA Storytelling Event: Struggle Bus\u201d Feb. 4-6 in the Administration Auditorium, but a new method of viewing will be available this weekend, Feb. 12-14, via Pay-per-view (PPV) Broadway On Demand, which allows audience members to purchase tickets to view a private event like this play. For this production, tickets will be sold online for $14.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on a book written by Josh Woods, the show tells the story of a family and their efforts to sell a beaten-up passenger van. Their ad, filled with brutally honest and hilarious descriptions, quickly becomes an internet sensation. The cast members wrote the entire play themselves from each chapter and created the props. Characters in the show change from one actor to another in different scenes, and audience members follow the adventures and problems the van faces. The play ensures the storytelling element is portrayed as if the audience were reading the book.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sophomore Davis Buckley, who is also an actor in \u201cStruggle Bus,\u201d is in support of the theatre department streaming their performances.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn this digital age, online shows become more and more requested and important to casual fans,\u201d Buckley said. \u201cEven without COVID-19 regulations, it would allow the community to grow and not be stuck in old ways.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, two other productions were in the works to be streamed, as well as performed live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe had planned to shoot two productions, \u2018Vintage Hitchcock\u2019 and \u2018Dear Edwina,\u2019\u201d Dr. Charles Bane, associate professor of film, said. \u201c\u2018Vintage Hitchcock\u2019 was shot as a live multi-cam production.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to COVID-19 regulations, theatre programs have adapted.
