{"id":13935,"date":"2019-11-08T10:21:22","date_gmt":"2019-11-08T16:21:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/?p=13935"},"modified":"2019-11-15T06:53:15","modified_gmt":"2019-11-15T12:53:15","slug":"the-art-of-texture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/2019\/11\/08\/the-art-of-texture\/","title":{"rendered":"The Art of Texture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The apparel merchandising department will host a fashion show called the Art of Texture in Cone Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 12.<\/p>\n<p>Fashion show director junior Hannah Rushing has been working to make the fashion show as big as it can be. She said she is trying to incorporate the theme of the show throughout the viewer\u2019s entire experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to get a lot of the departments [on campus] involved,\u201d Rushing said. \u201cThis is the Art of Texture, so I want you to experience texture in all aspects, even outside of the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The clothes that will be displayed come from several local stores including Siloe and  Dale\u2019s Men\u2019s.<br \/>\n\u201cThese boutiques are going to come out and watch the show,\u201d Rushing said. \u201cThey\u2019re going to see their clothes walking down the runway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The apparel merchandising department hosted a model call Oct. 27 that was open to the student body. Model coordinator junior Gracie Cox was in charge of choosing the models and said she was surprised by the diversity and amount of people that showed up to be a part of the show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did not expect for as many people to show up as they did,\u201d Cox said. \u201cI\u2019m just really excited that it\u2019s turning out bigger than I expected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rushing also said she was inspired by the amount of excitement and involvement the student body is showing throughout the entire process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had basketball players, theatre people, Sub-T guys come, all different people,\u201d Rushing said. \u201cI was amazed by the diversity of the models that came.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although this isn\u2019t the first time the department has hosted a fashion show, news of it has been received positively by the student body.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Natalia Euceda said she had never heard about a fashion show at Harding and is excited to go and support her friends who will be participating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it is so cool that there\u2019s going to be a fashion show,\u201d Euceda said. \u201cSeveral of my friends wanted to be a part of it, and I am excited to go out and support them and the students who are putting an effort to make this show come to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rushing also said she thinks the fashion show could be a positive boost to Harding\u2019s enrollment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think a lot of people don\u2019t know there is a fashion program here,\u201d Rushing said. \u201cI think this show will make people more aware and see that we really do represent Harding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The show begins at 7 p.m. and is $5 to attend.
