On October 15th at 4:00p.m., ed-tech startup company Apptegy will be hosting a Harding night at their offices in downtown Little Rock. Students from all majors are welcome to attend and partake in a tour of their office, learn about their company and talk to Harding alumni.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s going to be very informative, but also fun and exciting,\u201d said recent Harding graduate Sarah Brister, office manager for Apptegy. \u201cI want to be able to encourage soon-to-be grads and empower them to go after opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Apptegy is an ed-tech startup company that helps K-12 schools to better connect and get information to not only families, but also the surrounding communities. They help schools to cultivate an online presence and build their brand.<\/p>\n
Their app, Thrillshare, which is accessible through computers, tablets, smart phones, and social media, quickly updates and sends information to families about important school news and events. <\/p>\n
This idea was born out of Jeston George\u2019s spare bedroom and a need he had. He wanted to try to keep up with his nephew\u2019s school activities but had a hard time finding a consistent place to find accurate information. From this frustration, George decided to create an app to keep everyone who had interest in the school, in the loop.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great need that will always be there,\u201d said Integrated Marketing Communication professor Lori Sloan. \u201cIt\u2019s very important, for families, to help stay connected.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brister also said that Apptegy is a fast-growing company that is constantly looking to hire talented and motivated people to join their team. The Harding night will be a time where students can not only network, but also learn more about ed-tech startups and seek protentional career paths.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t think of a better transition from Harding to adulthood than with a company invested in my growth and transition into adulthood,\u201d Sales Operations Travelle McManussa, a 2017 Harding graduate said. \u201cIt is a place surrounded by young professionals driven to make a difference while being intentional and thoughtful.\u201d<\/p>\n
There are currently 5 Harding graduates who have been hired by Apptegy lined up to speak on their Harding night. Other than Brister and McManus, Coleman Branum, Melissa Hite, and Sales Development Representative Erin Roehl will be speaking on behalf of the Harding graduates at Apptegy.<\/p>\n
The company is not just looking for communication students, but students from various majors across campus.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am thrilled at their interest in Harding students and especially this campus-wide open house,\u201d Sloan said. \u201cIt encourages all majors whether they love English or history or research or stats or programming etc., that there are companies out there willing to hire them.\u201d<\/p>\n
If students are not able to attend the Harding night at Apptegy, they will be in attendance at the Integrated Marketing Communication expo this semester Oct. 29, from 1-3 in Cone Chapel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
