Breaking records comes easy to the women\u2019s track team, with more to come as they enter the outdoor track season.<\/p>\n
The womens 4×4 team placed 11th overall and broke the school record with a time of 3:55.37, beating the previous time by .6 seconds. The record-breaking team was sophomore Ashley Reinert, junior Kaylin Turley, junior Chelsea Howard and freshman Kinga Szarzynska, in order from lead to anchor.<\/p>\n
Reinert, said she was proud to break the school record and is confident going into the outdoor season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have really high expectations when it comes to our 4×4 relay team,\u201d Reinert said. \u201cWe are capable of dropping a few seconds off the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Turley said she is looking forward to the outdoor season, for more competition and breaking more records.<\/p>\n
\u201cI actually ran my best 400 that I have run in that race, so I\u2019m hoping that I can transfer that to outdoor. People say that outdoor is a bit faster than indoor,\u201d Turley said. \u201cAshley and I are kind of going for the school record in the 400-meter, not just the 4×4.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 4×4 team is not the only one coming out of the outdoor season on top. Junior Olivia Ness broke a school record in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of\u00a0 8.73 seconds and the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.33 seconds, shaving .12 seconds off the previous record set in 2003 for the 55-meter hurdles and .10 off the 60-meter record set in 2017.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt gives me more confidence for outdoor meets to push it that extra step,\u201d Ness said. \u201c I would really like to beat the outdoor hurdle record for the 100-meter.\u201d<\/p>\n
The next meet is the Rhodes Invitational, in Memphis, which will kick off\u00ad\u00ad the outdoor season on March 15 and 16.<\/p>\n
