{"id":10140,"date":"2018-01-26T10:49:43","date_gmt":"2018-01-26T16:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/?p=10140"},"modified":"2018-01-26T10:49:43","modified_gmt":"2018-01-26T16:49:43","slug":"the-revival-tv-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thelink.harding.edu\/the-bison\/2018\/01\/26\/the-revival-tv-shows\/","title":{"rendered":"The Revival TV Shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The reboots of turn-of-the-century sitcoms \u201cThat\u2019s So Raven,\u201d \u201cFull House\u201d and \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d will be returning to TV during Spring 2018. \u00a0When the shows ended, it left fans questioning about what happened to their favorite characters, what they grew up to be and so on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFuller House\u201d first aired on Netflix on Feb. 26, 2016. The show is about sisters DJ Tanner, Stephanie Tanner and their old next-door neighbor, Kimmy Gibbler. DJ Tanner is now a widow and a single mother raising three sons, Stephanie is an aspiring musician and Gibbler, a single mother as well. All three women are living under the same roof in the Tanner\u2019s childhood home. Throughout the series, former cast members make guest appearances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFuller House\u201d is a series meant for fans that fell in love with \u201cFull House.\u201d Despite high first season ratings, critics on \u201cFuller House\u2019s\u201d quality.<\/p>\n<p>Willa Paskin, a television critic for Slate Magazine wrote a review seen as harsh to many who are fans are loving the new show, Fuller House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFuller House scrambles the normal critical circuitry,\u201d Paskin said. \u201cIt is bad, but in a manner so in keeping with the original that to harp on its badness feels like meanness, akin to insulting a three-legged dog for not having four.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRaven\u2019s Home,\u201d a spin-off of \u201cThat\u2019s So Raven,\u201d first aired on Disney Channel on July 21, 2017. Raven Baxter is still psychic but is now a single mother of twins, Nia and Booker, and lives in Chicago. Baxter\u2019s son, Booker, inherits the psychic trait and his sister, doesn\u2019t believe him until a vision Booker has about his sister comes true. Along with Baxter and her children, Chelsea and her son Levi lives with them. Nia meets a friend named Tess, who lives in the same building and tags along during the children\u2019s chaotic journeys.<\/p>\n<p>Not too many reviews on how Raven\u2019s Home was rated but one user on imdb.com seems to have really liked the spin-off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI grew up watching That\u2019s So Raven, so I was a little weary about watching this spin off, but it was a good job,\u201d IMDb user \u2018justluvme\u2019 said. \u201cBringing Chelsea back, was a great idea. It showed the great chemistry they share together. Raven\u2019s Home is a new different towards Disney Channel and it is a hit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerican Idol\u201d will premiere on the ABC channel in March. \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d ran for 15 seasons until the show was cancelled. \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d displayed varied ranges of vocal talent from people across the U.S. Not everyone received the judges\u2019 approval, but \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d was viewed as a positive show.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Fawn Saulus, fan of American Idol, is more than excited that it is returning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to have a show that is for the public again,\u201d Saulus. \u201cI feel like this show will give us something good and excited to watch especially when our country isn\u2019t going in the best direction.
