After being in a car accident on Saturday, May 3, junior Renee Aston remains in the intensive care unit at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, but her prognosis for recovery is good, according to Director of Public Relations David Crouch.
Aston was in the accident with several other female students; Ashley Clement, Katie Clement and Kylie Free were all released from the hospital soon after the accident.
Crouch said Aston’s parents arrived Sunday and have been with her at the hospital. They hope to be able to transfer her to a hospital in her home state of Missouri by later this week.
“The family has expressed their appreciation for all of the support they received from the Harding community,” Crouch said.
Aston’s treatment will include wearing a halo for 2-3 months and extended physical therapy. Crouch also said Aston plans to return to Harding, but the timetable is still uncertain.
“Harding students should certainly remember all four of these young ladies in their prayers, especially Renee, since her recovery will be much more prolonged and extensive,” Crouch said. “Harding students have demonstrated their concern with so manyexpressions of love and compassion for all four oftheir fellow students. Everyone should be thankful there was no loss of life in the accident ineither of the two cars involved.”
