After days of searching by hundreds of people and even some searching with metal detectors, the lost ring was finally found.
On Friday, February 26, around 1:30 p.m. junior Zach Cantrell found junior Beth Anne Colvin’s lost engagement ring. Colvin had lost her engagement ring during the ring ceremony held for her in front of the lily pond on the front lawn Sunday, February 21.
“Personally, I spentall of Sunday night and Monday looking for it until I literally was forced to go to my bed,” Colvin said. “However, it always seemed like there was someone out there looking for it. People that I had never met were trying to help. It really shows the great spirit of the students at Harding.”
Cantrell was on his way for a bike ride when he ran into some people he knew that were looking for the ring. They said they had been praying about it and searching for a while. After hearing this, Cantrell decided that he would help them look for it.
“I figured it was in the bushes because people had looked all over the place with metal detectors,” Cantrell said. “I looked for the most concentration of bushes.”

“I was taking my statistics test and some girlsfrom my club and other people who had been diligent in searching for itbrought it to me during the middle of my test,” Colvin said. “I stopped taking my test immediately, starting bawling my eyes out, went in the hallway, cried and was in awe of how God brought it back, praised Him and called my fiancĂ© right after.”
The ring was reported lost Sunday night. An announcement was made in chapel on Tuesday offering a $500 reward if the ring was found and returned. However, Cantrell had decided even before he started looking that if he found it he was not going to take the reward.
Colvin and her friends were not the only ones celebrating the return of the ring. Some of Cantrell’s friends have posted a sign on his dorm room door that states, “Lord of the Ring!”
