Upate (March 27, 8:42 p.m.)As a result of the confusion with the poll, the Link presented the top three finalists with the most votes the opportunity to meet OneRepublic.
Update (March 27, 12:30 p.m.):Adrian Villalobos’ version of “Apologize” won the best cover contest after receiving 305 votes, 41 percent of the 741 votes that were cast.
Villalobos will have the opportunity to meet OneRepublic before tonight’s 7:30 concert.
The Link reset the poll Friday after a glitch in the system caused one student to receive multiple votes every time a voter cast a vote for another candidate. IT officials said the glitch was fixed Friday afternoon, allowing voters to vote only one time from a computer.
Update (March 26, 4:55 p.m.):A glitch in the polling section of the Link caused the voting tallies for the cover contest to perform incorrectly.
When a voter would vote for his or her favorite cover version, another cover version received three or four votes. According to Glenn Tankersley, the Link’s IT specialist, outside spam may have caused the error. Tankersley said he thinks the problem is fixed.
In an attempt to get a more accurate representation of student opinion on the cover versions, the poll has been reset. Students may vote on their favorite covers until noon Saturday. The winner will have the opportunity to meet OneRepublic.
The five finalists of the OneRepublic cover contest are:
James Taylor’s remake of “Apologize”; Cesar Beitia and Josh Davila’s covering of “Secrets”; Nolan Williamson and Scott Busby’s “Apologize” cover; Amanda Bower, Molly Brooks and Elliot Adams’ covering of “Come Home”; and Adrian Villalobos singing “Apologize.”
