You are hungry, but you just ran out of DCB and the thought of eating in the cafeteria makes your stomach turn. To make things even worse, your bank account only has $19.55 because you just paid $65 for your club’s spring formal. Thankfully, there is hope in sight. Many Searcy businesses offer discounts that many students are not aware of.
First, make sure you have your Harding ID with you. It is common knowledge that Mi Pueblito and Froyo grant 10 percent discounts every day, but that is only where the list begins. The local coffee shop Mountain Mudd, located on Beebe Capps next to McDonald’s, gives a 10 percent discount to faculty and staff. Students can also save 10 percent on fast food at McDonald’s, KFC and Subway. If you are planning on going to a nicer restaurant, Pasta Grill, Casa Brava, China Star Buffett, Mi Ranchito, Larry’s Pizza and even Waffle House give 10 percent discounts.
Wendy’s and the Filipino Restaurant give five percent discounts to students. Mazzio’s makes it to the top of the discount list as it offers 15 percent discounts every day.
While some restaurants offer discounts, others have weekly promotional days. Monday is a popular discount night. First, there is the popular Zaxby’s College Night Monday night when meals are given for half price. Tropical Smoothie, which opened this month, has college night on Mondays when students can get 15 percent off smoothies from 7-10 p.m. Finally, Monday night at Lenny’s, you can buy one sub and get one free.
Thursday nights after 2 p.m., Firehouse gives a free drink and chips with the purchase of a sub. Also offered Thursday nights, Chick-fil-A has partnered with Harding and will provide a free 8-count nugget if you buy a large milkshake and show your CAB Passport.
The discounts do not end at the restaurants. Super Bowl gives free shoe rentals to all students who purchase games and the Searcy Cinema has $5 deals on movie tickets Tuesday nights.
Finally, if you need somewhere to go to get a haircut, keep Sports Clips in mind as they give a $3 discount to students. Smart Style Family Hair Salon gives a 10 percent discount and Salon Milan offers a discount, as well.
Several Searcy businesses give discounts students do not expect, but you have to being willing to ask for them. Besides remembering the list found in this article, get in the habit of asking each place you go to if they offer a Harding discount. Just because your bank account is running low does not mean you cannot find somewhere delicious and inexpensive to go.
